The Benefits of Taking Time for Yourself
Self-care is more than a trend — it’s essential. Here’s why.
Read more →The first 48 hours after a Lash Lift do more to shape how your curl looks in week six than almost anything else you’ll do during that whole cycle. The lifting and setting solutions used during your appointment need time to fully cure once you leave the studio, and what you do — or don’t do — in that short window locks the shape in place. Here is exactly what to do, hour by hour, so your lashes hold their curl for the full 6–8 weeks.
The single most important rule is also the simplest: no water, steam or moisture anywhere near your lashes for the first 24 hours. The setting lotion applied at the end of your appointment is still finishing its work on the lash structure during this time, and introducing water — even a splash while washing your face — can soften the curl before it has fully set.
0–2 hours: straight after your session. Your lashes are at their most delicate right after the silicone shields come off. Avoid rubbing your eyes, resist checking them constantly in a mirror, and skip anything that will make you sweat heavily around the eye area.
That evening: sleep with care. Try to sleep on your back, or at least avoid pressing your face directly into the pillow. A pillowcase pressed against fresh lashes overnight can flatten the curl unevenly on one side.
Day 2, morning: the 24-hour mark. Once you’re past 24 hours, you can cleanse your face as normal again, though it’s still worth choosing water-based, oil-free products over heavier creams for another day.
Think of the first 48 hours less like a beauty routine and more like letting a fresh coat of varnish dry — the result is already there, it just needs to be left alone.
Bali’s warmth and humidity are actually kind to a fully set lash lift — once cured, the treatment holds up well through heat, sweat and saltwater. But that resilience only kicks in after the initial set is complete. In the first two days, humidity works against you the same way water does, so it’s worth planning your appointment for a day when you’re not heading straight to the beach or a steamy class.
Not really — that’s part of what makes a Lash Lift such a low-maintenance treatment. Unlike lash extensions, there are no infills to book, no daily brushing routine and nothing to keep dry every single morning. Once you’re past 48 hours, your lashes behave exactly like your natural lashes always have, just curled — you can swim, sweat, cleanse and wear makeup as usual for the rest of the cycle. For more on how the curl changes over those weeks, see our guide on how long a lash lift really lasts.
If you only remember three things: keep lashes completely dry for 24 hours, avoid oil-based products and steam for 48 hours, and don’t touch or rub them more than necessary. Everything else about your normal routine can carry on as before — this is a treatment built to fit into real life, not one that asks you to rearrange it.
If you’re planning your first Lash Lift and want to know what to expect beyond the aftercare, our team at Hello Lash Lifting Bali is happy to talk you through the whole appointment before you book.
